Harvest Hills to Benefit Local Schools

February 21, 2019

Local schools represent the future of a community. In support of this belief, Safari Highlands Ranch is projected to contribute more than $7.8 million to local schools, which will help schools like San Pasqual Union continue to provide an excellent learning environment, as well as maintain its desired, historic enrollment levels.

The San Pasqual Union School District’s mission ensures that “all children receive an education that builds character, confidence, knowledge, and skills to prepare them to be competent life-long learners who can achieve individual excellence.” Harvest Hills will support this mission by providing nearly $3 million in school fees and additionally proposed contributions/improvements dedicated to just the neighborhood’s K-8 school that can be used for school programs and campus improvements.  If used in conformance with State programs, these funds will have the potential to be matched by State funding, producing up to $6 million in capital for this School.

Harvest Hills has also proposed on-campus pick-up and drop-off enhancements at the San Pasqual Union School that support a safer and more effective pick-up/drop-off experience, as well as providing new parking for school employees, families and visitors, and placing a new crosswalk on Rockwood Road. Together, these improvements would help increase safety and efficiency for families and visitors to the school, especially during the current congested pick up/drop off periods.

Once completed, Harvest Hills is expected to contribute only 136 students to the San Pasqual Union School District, which currently admits more than 200 students from outside the district through inter-district transfers. Because of this unique situation, Safari Highlands Ranch will not affect the enrollment of any existing inter-district transfer student throughout their years at San Pasqual Union, will allow room to continue to admit new inter-district transfer students each year, and not necessitate any expansion of the historic enrollment at the School even at the project’s full buildout and the objectives mentioned above.

Harvest Hills will benefit schools, students and families in the community. Visit HarvestHillsEscondido.com to learn more or sign up to receive project updates.
